Specialisation Module 1: Corporate Valuation and Restructuring

This module will introduce you to the concerpt of corporate valuation and corporate restructuring. You will obtain a strong knowledge of in different valuation models and you will learn how to employ them in valuing different types of companies.

The mechanics of various forms of corporate restructuring will be studied. Students will develop the ability to discern between the effectiveness and appropriateness of different methods when applying them to real life situations and case studies.

  • Identify principles and trends in corporate valuation and restructuring
  • Determine and evaluate the nature of corporate restructuring process
  • Demonstrate deep and systemic knowledge in the realm of mergers and acquisitions

Specialisation Module 2: Advanced Financial Modelling

The aim of Advanced Financial Modelling is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which Excel spreadsheets can be used to assist finance professionals in data analysis. This module will introduce you to the range of tools and techniques available for a number of financial applications. It will also develop and reinforce rules and principles for model design that ensure robustness, and ease of use.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe how the tools and techniques of financial modelling can be applied in analysis, calculation, and presentation of financial data
  • Explain how to introduce robustness and quality into model building
  • Evaluate how to construct a suitable spreadsheet to analyse information productively
  • Interpret the results produced by spreadsheets
  • Design spreadsheets which are informative, and clear, for a range of users
